The Summer Resource Fair is a free event featuring representatives from 100 summer programs, camps, and services for youth in grades K-8. The Summer Resource Fair has been hosted by the SF Department of Children, Youth, and their Families, the SF Recreation & Parks Department, and the SF Public Library for over 20 years.

Our City Department partners, grantees, and other agencies that provide services for San Francisco’s children, youth, and families are always well represented at the Summer Resource Fair. These agencies provide everything from benefits for families in need, free dental care, support for families of children with disabilities, information about how the City serves our residents, and much more.

Here is a list of the City Services exhibitors that will attend the Summer Resource Fair:

Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation

AIISF is a nonprofit partner of Angel Island State Park. AIISF helps keep the lights on in the buildings as well conducting outreach programs raising awareness and preserving the community’s heritage. AIISF is focused on ensuring that people learn about the history of Angel Island, as well as generating empathy and compassion for immigrant communities both historic and modern. AIISF hosts various events throughout the year ranging from concerts on the island, to virtual webinars, and street festivals. Their biggest event is Family Day, a celebration of immigrant communities on the island. They also help fund field trips out to the island for K-12 public schools.

California Public Health Association — North

The California Public Health Association — North strives to provide accessible dental care and education to promote oral health for all. They offer free dental screenings, fluoride varnish applications, and oral health education. Their signature event, Give Kids a Smile Day, provides free dental care to children in San Francisco, creating brighter smiles and healthier futures. Be sure to stop by their table to learn more about how they can support your family’s oral health!

Children’s Council of San Francisco

For 50 years, Children’s Council has been the heart of child care and early education in San Francisco, advancing the belief that high-quality child care can transform lives and communities. Children’s Council’s 140+ team members help families navigate their child care and preschool options and secure financial assistance to pay for it. Children’s Council provides home-based child care businesses and other early educators with the training and resources to succeed. Through a wide range of free programs and workshops, Children’s Council supports families and caregivers as they build knowledge and skills to support the well-being of their children.

Kindergarten to College (K2C)

Kindergarten to College (K2C) automatically opens a college savings account with an initial $50 for every K-12h grade student enrolled with the in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). There is no paperwork to fill out. Families with a K2C account can begin saving for post-secondary education immediately by choosing how to deposit and earning incentives, including a $20 award for viewing their balance online at K2CSF.org

LearnUp Centers

LearnUp empowers learners of all ages and levels to read, regardless of dyslexia or other learning differences. Their proven structured literacy program, featuring 1:1 tutoring, phonemically aligned decodable chapter books, and evidence-based methods, helps students become independent readers in less than half the time of traditional programs. If your child is struggling with reading, LearnUp can help them succeed.

Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development

The Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD) is proud to share San Francisco’s Housing Portal, DAHLIA housing.sfgov.org. It is a one-stop shop for applicants to find rental and homeownership housing opportunities, resources, and housing counseling services. Housing opportunities are available to applicants of various income levels. More exciting housing news: the 2025 Downpayment Assistance Loan Program (DALP) is coming soon! DALP provides up to $500,000 to help low- to middle-income first-time homebuyers to purchase a market-rate property in San Francisco.

Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco

Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco (PPS)is dedicated to bridging families, the school district, and community organizations to promote the fundamental value of education. Their services include multi-lingual workshops, one-on-one support, network building, convening community dialogues and parent published blogs. The PPS peer-to-peer parent model simplifies educational policies to empower parents as advocates to make sure schools are here to stay. PPS achieves this through understanding policies, sharing information, workshops that build skills and facilitate community power. By empowering families to navigate the school district student system through community engagement, facilitating shared decision-making, understanding cares and responding to questions we ensure democracy and equity. PPS’s multi-faceted approach is adamant that all families, regardless of their language or background, have the tools and services they need to successfully navigate school systems and advocate for their children’s educational success.

Safe & Sound

Safe & Sound provides services to children and families in San Francisco that help them stay safe, healthy and thriving. They also advocate on their behalf for systems change. Parents can drop in for parenting classes, one-to-one case management or basic needs support, and bring their children to our therapeutic playroom or seasonal events. In addition to their on-site services, Safe & Sounds’s free, confidential, 24/7 TALK Line — (415) 441–5437 — offers Bay Area parents immediate support only a phone call away.

San Francisco Department of Human Resources — Diversity Recruitment

The City’s Department of Human Resources’ Career Center, located in City Hall, helps job seekers and City employees explore pathways to City employment and career growth through workshops, career counseling, and employee development. At the Summer Resource Fair, SFDHR’s Diversity Recruitment Team will demystify the City’s hiring process, help identify opportunities, and share open roles — your next career step starts here!

San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA)

The San Francisco Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs (OCEIA) is a policy, compliance, direct services and grantmaking City department. OCEIA’s programs include initiatives for immigrant residents, such as: immigration legal services, leadership and professional development, economic empowerment, outreach and education, language access and rights, civic engagement, community safety and more.

San Francisco Parent Coalition

San Francisco Parent Coalition is an education nonprofit that brings together families across San Francisco to create better public schools. SF Parent Coalition empowers parents and caregivers to advocate for an equitable and thriving school district. They center the needs of children and youth, and build joyful community connections. SF Parent Coalition envisions a future San Francisco that’s the best place for every child — of all races, backgrounds, and abilities — to grow up and receive an excellent public education.

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission provides clean, affordable, and reliable electricity for thousands of San Francisco residents and businesses through Hetch Hetchy Power and CleanPowerSF. Their programs help tackle the climate crisis head on. Instead of relying on fossil fuels, SFPUC harnesses wind, solar, geothermal, and hydro-electric power to serve the electricity needs of their customers. As a local utility with public oversight, SFPUC is committed to achieving a clean energy future for San Francisco, today.

Support for Families of Children with Disabilities

For over 40 years, Support for Families of Children with Disabilities (SFCD) has empowered families with the knowledge and tools to ensure their child receives the care they need at school, at home, and within the community. It’s Support for Families’ mission to ensure that families of children with disabilities, learning differences, and/or complex medical needs, and the providers who serve them, have the knowledge and support to make informed choices that enhance children’s development and well-being. As a parent-led organization, Support for Families believes in increasing equity and accessibility for all children with disabilities, learning differences, or complex medical needs–especially those historically excluded from services, systems, and support. They are dedicated to creating a community where our children flourish.

UCSF Department of Pediatrics, Flaherman Lab

The Flaherman Lab at UCSF is dedicated to bettering health outcomes for children in San Francisco and beyond. Their team is working on an exciting new project focused on improving developmental outcomes for children around the world, and they are looking for Bay Area families to help with their mission! Their new study, the GSED Study, is a fun and easy way for families to participate in research and help promote the healthy development of children everywhere.
